Agents transact constantly. They act on behalf of many principals at once, against counterparties that may be indifferent or adversarial. Every move they make on a public chain is broadcast to the world — balances, timing, relationships, the shape of the strategy itself.

Canton flips the default. Visibility is per-party, opt-in. Two agents can settle a trade and only the two of them know it happened. A treasury can pay a vendor without leaking the payroll. An autonomous fund can run without surrendering its book to every observer with an RPC endpoint.

Privacy isn’t a feature here. It’s the substrate.
